Oracle America, Inc., a California-based multinational computer technology company, and its leadership have a documented relationship with pro-Israel advocacy and the Israel lobby. This relationship is evidenced through public statements, significant financial contributions, extensive business partnerships with Israeli military and government entities, efforts to influence public opinion, and internal company policies.
Oracle’s co-founder and Executive Chairman, Larry Ellison, and CEO Safra Catz, have publicly expressed unwavering support for Israel. Safra Catz has stated that Oracle’s “commitment to Israel is second to none” and that employees who do not align with the company’s mission to support Israel might not be suitable for the company. Oracle also displayed the message “Oracle stands with Israel” across its global websites.
Larry Ellison has been identified as a significant private funder of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), contributing tens of millions of dollars to the Friends of the IDF (FIDF), an organization that procures equipment for the Israeli military. This includes a reported $16.6 million pledge for a new training facility for soldiers. Oracle, as a corporation, has also made donations to Magen David Adom, an Israeli rescue organization, and initiated employee fundraising campaigns for Israeli nonprofits, matching employee contributions. Additionally, the company has donated medical and environmental supplies to Israeli soldiers.
The company maintains extensive operational ties with the Israeli government and military. Oracle provides software, databases, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and IT infrastructure to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the Israeli military, and other security agencies. Oracle established cloud data centers in Israel, including underground facilities in Jerusalem, to serve public sector and defense customers, with plans for further expansion. These partnerships include classified projects with the Israeli Air Force, such as Project Menta, and programs with the IDF’s Unit 81. In February 2024, Oracle reportedly collaborated with the Israeli military’s cyber unit on a hackathon to develop technological solutions for Israeli settlements near Gaza.
Oracle executives have also engaged in activities aimed at shaping public opinion in favor of Israel. In 2015, then-CEO Safra Catz reportedly urged former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to serve as a consulting producer for a television show about the Israeli military, intending to influence U.S. public opinion and counter the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. There are concerns that Oracle’s role in the potential acquisition and oversight of TikTok’s U.S. operations could be leveraged to align the platform’s infrastructure with pro-Israel advocacy campaigns and influence public discourse. Oracle has also been reported to lead initiatives to elevate pro-Israel content on social media platforms like TikTok and Twitter, in collaboration with Israeli development ministries, and has been linked to the development of a digital tool called “Words of Iron” to promote Israeli narratives.
Internally, Oracle has faced criticism regarding its stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Reports indicate that Oracle allegedly suppressed pro-Palestinian voices within the company, removed Palestinian aid organizations from its employee charity donation platform, and disciplined or terminated employees for expressing solidarity with Palestinians. Oracle’s leadership has communicated that employees not aligned with the company’s commitment to Israel may not be a good fit.
Beyond corporate actions, Larry Ellison has also engaged in political influence related to Israel. He was involved in vetting U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his allegiance to Israel during Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign.
