Mark Isakowitz, a key figure within Google’s government affairs, and Google, the entity for which he serves, have documented relationships that intersect with pro-Israel advocacy and the Israel lobby. • Reports indicate Google has a $45 million contract with the Israeli Prime Minister’s office, aimed at promoting government messages and downplaying humanitarian crises in Gaza through advertising campaigns on platforms such as Google and YouTube. These advertising efforts are referred to in government documents as “hasbara,” a Hebrew term often translated as propaganda.
• Google’s advertising network has also placed pro-Israel advertisements on news sites in the Middle East and North Africa.
• The Israeli Government Advertising Agency has reportedly paid Google to display ads critical of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) at the top of search results for “UNRWA” and related terms. Some Google employees have expressed discomfort with the company profiting from these campaigns.
• A Google co-founder reportedly characterized the UN as “transparently antisemitic” in an internal company forum after a UN Special Rapporteur criticized Google for profiting from alleged “genocide in Gaza” through Project Nimbus.

While Google Client Services LLC’s lobbying disclosure forms signed by Mark Isakowitz do not explicitly list “Israel” or “pro-Israel advocacy” as lobbying issues, they primarily focus on areas like “Regulation of online advertising” and “Privacy and competition issues in online advertising”. However, given Isakowitz’s role as Google’s VP of Government Affairs and the documented activities of Google (the parent company) directly supporting the Israeli government’s messaging and military operations, a relationship to pro-Israel advocacy is evident through these various documented actions.
